The design of the SIOT cyclone is characterized by the absence of a cylindrical part of the body and a triangular shape of the inlet pipe. This cyclone is as effective as the TsN-15 cyclone. SIOT cyclones are installed both on the suction and discharge side of the fan. When cleaning the air from abrasive dust, the lower part of the cyclone must be armored with corundum cement.
Dry cyclones of SIOT type are designed for coarse and medium purification of gases emitted during some technological processes (drying, roasting, agglomeration, fuel combustion) from dry non-sticking non-fibrous dust, as well as aspiration air in various industries. They can be used, in particular, for air purification from lime dust in sugar factories and in the starch-syrup industry. In this case, the dust content of the gas flow should not exceed 300 g / m3.
The optimum speed of dusty air at the cyclone inlet is 18.7 m / s.
