Air-cleaning cyclones C are used for mechanical filtration of air for cleaning it from coarse, medium and fine dust. In the working environment, the presence of any fibrous inclusions and dust, which tends to stick together, is not allowed.
Cyclones C can be mounted at the site of permanent operation singly or in groups (depending on the capacity of the air handling unit serving them). Cyclone type C GiproDrevProma (Merkusheva) consists of cylindrical and conical parts of the body, inlet pipe with tangential swirler, umbrella and exhaust pipe with separator.
The separator, working on the principle of a louvered dust collector with a screw inlet, serves for additional cleaning. But, as the experience of operating a cyclone of type Ts (Merkushev) shows, the separator does not fulfill its function, since during operation it is clogged with chips and fine dust, as a result of which the aerodynamic resistance of the cyclone increases, and the efficiency of dust collection decreases sharply. Therefore, cyclones of the C (Merkushev) type are often made without a separator, while their efficiency practically does not differ from that declared by the developer, but the design is simplified and the reliability in operation increases.
